<p>Risking that the arguments become circular, it has to be made clear:</p>
<p>No one in the affected LP group has ever claimed “legal responsibility” for W3F, Polkadot, or Gavin.</p>
<p>The AWS/Meta analogy actually breaks down on the core argument victims are making: AWS does <strong>not</strong> run treasury campaigns recruiting users into specific Netflix products. Meta does <strong>not</strong> designate specific apps as “official Meta infrastructure” on a copyrighted Wiki. Those companies provide infrastructure neutrally. <strong>W3F provided infrastructure plus seed funding, plus CEO-level public security endorsements, plus DAO-funded recruitment campaigns.</strong> That combination is different from neutral permissionless hosting.</p>
<p>But again, this is not the legal liability question. <strong>It is the ecosystem trust question.</strong></p>
<p>DeFi only works if ecosystems create trust around what they actively endorse and market. What is up for discussion is whether ecosystems that go beyond neutral hosting, into active promotion and capital recruitment, share any structural role when that promoted infrastructure fails.</p>
<p>Drift, KelpDAO, and the “DeFi United” coalition show one answer. Nomad, Multichain, Acala, and Fearless show another. <strong>Both are valid models. The question for Polkadot is which model defines its future.</strong></p>
<p>That is the substantive disagreement. It is not about responsibility for hacks. It is about ecosystem positioning.</p>

<p>It is also surprising ho some Encointer-linked contributors are actively voting in favor of sustaining the project, which raises questions about whether governance outcomes reflect actual network usage.</p>

<p>Past <a href="https://forum.polkadot.network/t/validators-running-multiple-identities-and-flipping-commissions-in-same-day/16569/51">on-chain interactions between these related wallets</a> warrant further transparency to rule out any coordinated influence on voting.</p>
<p>Given the current state of the network, the community shoukd reconsider whether continued maintenance of Encointer is still justified.</p>
<p>Please consider voting against the <a href="https://kusama.subsquare.io/referenda/645" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">proposal</a>.</p>

<p>In my view, the most effective way to discourage operators from running multiple validators and multiple identities is to fundamentally rethink the validator reward and election system</p>
<p>If our real goal is to have approximately 300 validators operated by 300 different entities or individuals (or any other number), rather than a handful of large players controlling hundreds of nodes - then we may need to move away from the current Phragmén model. A better approach could be to let nominators select just one validator per nomination (with the same amount of stake), and distribute rewards proportionally to the stake each validator receives, similar to how it works in many other blockchains</p>
<p>This change would remove the economic incentive to run multiple nodes. Validators would be motivated to focus all their energy and resources on operating a single, high-quality node instead</p>
<p>To ensure smaller validators can still sustain themselves, we could introduce a modest base reward, for example, a fixed amount per month with the remaining rewards distributed proportionally according to stake. This would prevent validators with very low stake from earning almost nothing, while keeping the system fair</p>
<p>It’s widely acknowledged that the current validator set has some significant issues. The existing model already encourages operators to run multiple validators, which has unfortunately led to many using different identities as well. With the upcoming changes, a single large entity could even more easily run dozens of validators by simply providing the required 10k self-bond for each</p>
<p>For these reasons, I believe a more fundamental reform would be healthier for the long term. At the moment, it feels like we’re reinforcing a system that is already showing clear weaknesses</p>

<p>By the way, could someone clarify the relationship between Paradox and these two operators who have been previously flagged as bad actors? It appears there are recurring monthly transfers between them, and it would be helpful to <a href="https://assethub-polkadot.subscan.io/account/15D2JM548bqRuE45aDmeF2WqiKC56WtNnRmCxVSree9YKwVb?tab=transfer" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">understand the nature and justification of these payments</a>.</p>

<p>If there is a legitimate operational reason for this, it should be clearly documented so the community can properly assess it.</p>

<p>Small update with some more cool stuff.</p>
<p>Ad creatives support common image sizes (banners, skyscrapers, mid-paragraphs, mobile screens, etc) via tag selection with fallback alt text or only-text mode. Should also work for videos. Tag selection is extensible and can change naturally.</p>
<p>It can also render multiple creative slots per page, but gotta see how to balance multiple campaign wins. Slot selection type can add natural competition, but still testing.</p>
<p>Working on close-loop content feedback to ZK circuit to confirm the creative content actually appeared on screen.</p>
<p>Also testing a WordPress plugin for publisher setup.</p>
<p>ERC-20 sidecar confirmed to support any Assethub Native Assets via known pre compile.</p>
<p>Safety gating governance functions for eventual rollout on a network with real value. Initially, all campaigns will be approved by admin function. Later will transition to a trusted collective. Then eventually a wild OpenGov style permissionless vetting process.</p>
<p>I know it’s a bit quiet right now, but if anyone has some experience in digital marketing/advertisement space, or has a website/blog and be willing to help trial the ad slot SDK or browser extension, I’d love to touch base. It’s still in early Paseo testing for validation, but I’d be willing to cover Relay signing costs upon migration to Polkadot/Kusama for any publishers helping with limited alpha testing.</p>

<h2><a name="p-38984-introduction-1" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-introduction-1" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Introduction</h2>
<p>This thread will be used to share Submerge release updates and news with the Polkadot community, starting with Submerge Crystal, the core indexer component and its API. Submerge is an <a href="https://github.com/helikon-labs/submerge" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">open-source</a> (GPLv3) indexing, data processing, and compliance platform for Polkadot SDK-based blockchains, being built by Helikon and funded by the Polkadot treasury.</p>
<h2><a name="p-38984-submerge-crystal-api-2" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-submerge-crystal-api-2" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Submerge Crystal API</h2>
<p>Submerge Crystal is the core indexer component of Submerge. It is deployed per-chain, and its API exposes blocks, extrinsics, calls, events, storage traces, genesis state, and runtime metadata as queryable REST resources.</p>
<p>Crystal indexes the base data consumed by Submerge’s upper layers, and is also a standalone indexer API for developers who need direct, structured access to historical chain data.</p>
<p>Crystal API documentation is available at <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">docs.submerge.io/crystal-api</a>. The API is currently live for Polkadot Coretime and Polkadot People. The complete set of Polkadot and Kusama relay chains and their system parachains is currently indexing, with public endpoints to follow in the coming days.</p>
<p>The Crystal API is organized around seven resource types:</p>

<li>Calls</li>
<li>Events</li>
<li>Extrinsics</li>
<li>Genesis</li>
<li>Metadata</li>
<li>Traces</li>
</ul>
<p>Below is a summary of what each of these sections provides.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-blocks-3" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-blocks-3" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Blocks</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-blocks" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Blocks section</a> exposes the chain’s block history through two endpoints. Blocks can be listed and filtered by author, status, runtime spec version, and block number or timestamp ranges, or queried directly by hash or number. Pruned blocks are marked through the <code>status</code> field, alongside finalized blocks.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-calls-4" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-calls-4" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Calls</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-calls" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Calls section</a> provides access to the chain’s runtime call history through ten endpoints. The API indexes every dispatched call as a first-class entity, not just as a member of an extrinsic.</p>
<p>This means a query like <code>pallet_name=broker&amp;call_name=renew</code> returns every call instance across the chain history, regardless of whether the call appeared at the top level of an extrinsic or was wrapped inside a call such as <code>utility.batch</code>, <code>proxy.proxy</code>, <code>multisig.asMulti</code>, etc. Name filters accept partial and case-insensitive matches.</p>
<p>The call tree is also accessible. Parent and child relationships are queryable, so a nested call can be traced back to its root call, extrinsic, and signer.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-events-5" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-events-5" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Events</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-events" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Events section</a> exposes all events emitted by the runtime during block execution, queryable by pallet name, event name, and ranges of block number, timestamp, and spec version, or scoped to a specific block or extrinsic.</p>
<p>Decoded event arguments are available on demand via the <code>include_args</code> parameter, keeping list responses lean while making full event payloads available.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-extrinsics-6" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-extrinsics-6" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Extrinsics</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-extrinsics" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Extrinsics section</a> provides four endpoints that expose signed and unsigned extrinsics, queryable by signer and signed status, or scoped to a specific block.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-genesis-7" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-genesis-7" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Genesis</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-genesis-records" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Genesis section</a> provides access to the chain’s genesis storage records, with each record resolved to its pallet and storage item. This is useful to track storage changes where a storage entity begins its life in the genesis rather than initiated through an extrinsic post-genesis.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-metadata-8" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-metadata-8" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Metadata</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-metadata-list" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Metadata section</a> exposes every indexed runtime version’s metadata, available either as raw SCALE bytes or pre-decoded JSON, and drillable down to the pallet level: calls, events, errors, constants, and storage items can each be queried per pallet, per spec version. This provides convenience for comparing a pallet’s API surface across runtime upgrades.</p>
<h3><a name="p-38984-traces-9" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-traces-9" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Traces</h3>
<p>The <a href="https://docs.submerge.io/crystal-api/get-traces" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Traces section</a> provides access to storage traces. Every read, write, and delete applied to the chain’s storage during block execution can be queried. Pallet and storage item information is decoded within each trace record.</p>
<p>Traces are filterable by storage key prefix and key parameters, so questions such as “every write to System.Account for this account” or “every change to Staking.Bonded” become single API calls.</p>
<p>Querying storage traces through a public API is not common in the Polkadot infrastructure space. This is typically only available by running a private archive node with <code>State.TraceBlock</code> RPC call exposed.</p>
<h2><a name="p-38984-try-it-10" class="anchor" href="#p-38984-try-it-10" aria-label="Heading link"></a>Try It</h2>

<p>Why deploy on Polkadot?</p>

<p>With Eidas v2, UE forced member state to provide for the end of 2026 a wallet for their citizen to both prove their identity and put their administrative documents in it, the aim was  administrative cross border compatibility.</p>
<p>Problem is, the format of the wallet wasn’t specified in Eidas, and member state choose a web2 solution instead of the DID (Decentralized IDentifier, a P256 pair of key). It will be the PID, containing identity with a crypto chain of trust from the member state.</p>
<p>A compromise is currently being build between UE and member state, centralized solution for proof of identity, and at the regional level decentralization for coordination.</p>
<p>The UE administrative blockchain is live since a few week and a consortium as been created, the <a href="https://ec.europa.eu/digital-building-blocks/sites/spaces/EBSI/pages/844759063/EUROPEUM-EDIC" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Europeum Edic</a> , to deploy software on this infra.</p>
