<p>I’m a PBA alumnus and I completely relate to this.<br>
After the academy, it’s not easy to keep contributing without a clear path to follow. I believe many of us would like to stay active in the ecosystem and work as freelancers, keeping flexibility in time and task choice, but it’s difficult without a structured route from “graduate” to “contributor.”</p>
<p>An initiative like this could really help bring more PBA devs into consistent ecosystem work. <p>This is incorrect. PAPI also caches and reuses data so repeated operations are served from cache. The primary reason PAPI performs better in the benchmark is simpler: <strong>Dedot repeatedly downloads metadata for all historical blocks</strong>, whereas PAPI only fetches metadata when needed. When we hit a block that’s not connected to the tip, we first check whether we already have its metadata and avoid redundant downloads. Re-downloading metadata every time an operation targets an old block, as Dedot currently does, incurs substantial overhead, which your own benchmark highlights.</p>
<p>If it helps, feel free to port the PAPI approach, or ask follow-ups about our strategy for avoiding unnecessary metadata fetches. Let’s fix the root cause rather than inventing a non-existing “memory for availability” trade-off.</p>

That cements long-known limitations: difficulty creating extrinsics for modern chains, heavier signers, and awkwardness around custom signed-extensions, among others. Supporting legacy interfaces for compatibility is fine; elevating them to your primary public surface is a missed opportunity for a “modern” library.</p>

<p>It’s more opinionated than it appears, which makes it <strong>non-interoperable</strong> and coupled to Dedot internals. Neither generic JSON-RPC nor the modern Polkadot JSON-RPC define a standard “subscribe” primitive; subscriptions are conventions built on notifications. Returning a <code>Promise</code> from your <code>subscribe</code> function also leaks an implementation detail about how Dedot internally manages subscriptions.</p>
<p>By contrast, the <a href="https://github.com/polkadot-api/polkadot-api/blob/ad5615339b6c2be1696eeb5af7ad3d26fdf74e99/packages/json-rpc/json-rpc-provider/src/index.ts" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">JSON-RPC interface we proposed</a> is deliberately minimal and library-agnostic. Smoldot’s <a href="https://github.com/smol-dot/smoldot/blob/98c41cd95128dd8a9de09917bb2017ea8c259d52/wasm-node/javascript/src/public-types.ts#L127-L219" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">public interface for Chains</a> is another interoperable example. You can translate between smoldot’s and PAPI’s easily (because they are both interoperable).</p>
<p>In fact, we could use any PAPI provider with Dedot’s modern client by “impersonating” a smoldot chain. The reverse isn’t feasible with Dedot’s current provider API.</p>
<p>If you don’t like PAPI’s interface, proposing a simpler/better interoperable one (or adopting smoldot’s) would still be a win. We’re not fully satisfied with smoldot’s because disconnects require rejecting the latest <code>Promise</code>, it limits synchronous message bursts, and it’s harder to ensure consumers drain all yielded promises. Even so, we’d be willing to compromise on it.</p>

<p>It will. A recent example: at Polkadot People block-height <strong>2188447</strong>, the structure of the <code>Identity.IdentityOf</code> storage-value changed. Dedot can’t detect these structural changes on runtime upgrades on the fly. Without a compatibility API, tools like <a href="https://diff.papi.how" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">https://diff.papi.how</a> aren’t achievable. We’ve explained this in multiple places; denying it doesn’t make the limitation go away.</p>

<p>Regarding the JSON-RPC Provider. We propose using a <a href="https://github.com/polkadot-api/polkadot-api/blob/ad5615339b6c2be1696eeb5af7ad3d26fdf74e99/packages/json-rpc/json-rpc-provider/src/index.ts" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">super simple and minimalistic API</a>, although for v2 we have realized that it’s slightly better if the payloads are <a href="https://github.com/polkadot-api/polkadot-api/blob/37ed0f0590225e5e7a4a45943027ee2e12452f39/packages/json-rpc/json-rpc-provider/src/index.ts#L1-L37" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">actually parsed</a>, which is better for performance. They are essentially the same, though.</p>
<p>We’re open to either, or to a third option, so long as it’s simple, performant, and <strong>decoupled from any single library’s internals</strong>.</p>

<p>Centralising the demand-supply job market matching promotes deeper inefficiencies given the market structure I’ve been addressing for some time now in the forum, i.e. highly concentrated economy.</p>
<p>Actually, my understanding is that the job opportunity matching is already centralised around the PBA and related efforts, distracting the educational efforts into job seeking more than knowledge pursue and innovation. My partners at the PBA can be witnesses on this fact.</p>
<p>I advocate on free markets for strong political reasoning based on real world observation on how free markets contribute to market efficiencies. The main condition for a free market to work efficiently is distribution of operations and revenue taking participants. If this conditions are not met, the job market will continue operating in a centralised way with all the inefficiencies you are just describing. In this sense, I don’t think it is accurate there has been lacking centralisation of the job matching market, actually the contrary and I don’t believe there are good reasons it should continue this way from the economical efficiency perspective, specially with Parity taking over the strong operative arm for Polkadot development with this next recent management change, the reelected CEO.</p>

<p>Hey! As someone who has been working on the DAO app you mentioned with the Virto team, I can tell you we made lots of efforts to reach an audience interested in this kind of DAO tooling, but we kept running into the same dead end.</p>
<p>At least for us, the issue was that we weren’t solving a real problem. We were just adding complexity with our unfinished UI, which stayed that way because we couldn’t get real organizations to actually want to use it.</p>
<p>It <em>could</em> be an awesome tool to manage organizations, with all the actions you mentioned (I’d especially highlight identity, treasury management, socials, and storage, since those were exactly the features we were planning to add, along with decision-making). Yet we weren’t able to find the right audience.</p>
<p>As for project teams, Polkadot already provides vesting to schedule transactions.<br>
If the flow is:</p>

<p>Communication via Discord</p>

<p>Getting funds from Kusama/Polkadot governance</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Using vesting to manage payments</p>
</li>
</ol>
<p>Then there’s not really a problem to solve for those project teams.</p>
<p>But as I say this, I have another thought. This year, I went to an event at <strong>Crecimiento</strong>, a coworking space in Argentina mostly attended by blockchain-related people, and one key insight I got was how slow medium-to-large companies are when it comes to making decisions.</p>
<p>As I’m also a lawyer, this idea came to me:<br>
A system where decisions made on-chain could have the <em>force of law</em> for the organization.<br>
That way, to make a decision they’d only need to:</p>
<ol>
<li>
<p>Submit it on the forum where all members with voting rights have access</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Set a voting period</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>Once voted, that decision becomes binding for the organization, meaning they must carry out what was approved in the proposal</p>
</li>
<li>
<p>The proposal automatically executes (e.g. if they need to buy something, the funds are automatically sent; if they need to pay someone, that transaction is automatically made)</p>
</li>
</ol>
<p>Of course, you’d still need to find people who actually have this problem, who want to test the product, and the funds for the team to build it.<br>
I’m also not sure how beneficial this would be for the ecosystem, whether it would bring more or less traction, and that’s something to consider when asking for funding.</p>
<p>Virto didn’t continue down that path mainly due to a lack of funding and clear insights to justify it at the time. But personally, I still, it’s a direction with strong potential, especially if there’s a group of users genuinely interested in testing and shaping it <em>before</em> the project starts.</p>

<p>The first contact between PNUD (<a href="https://www.undp.org/en/venezuela" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">https://www.undp.org/en/venezuela</a>) and Polkadot took place in June through ambassadors <a href="https://x.com/angeinweb3?s=11&amp;t=xZwu9y0l8ACyMwWB7pH3Rg" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Angélica</a> and <a href="https://x.com/simonxpe?s=11&amp;t=xZwu9y0l8ACyMwWB7pH3Rg" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Saimon</a> during their proactive participation at an Institutional Conference. <a href="https://polkadot.polkassembly.io/referenda/1630" rel="noopener nofollow ugc">Ref</a></p>
<p>In September we were invited to participate to another Institutional seminar organized by PNUD, where we had the opportunity to show Polkadot capabilities to another relevant group of entreprises and international organizations generating a lot of interes on them to explore in a deep way the technology available.</p>

<p>For PNUD, the development of blockchain projects is a topic known through the United Nations Innovation Lab. The main objective of the working team will be to manage the technical and business needs for the proper planning and presentation of projects of common interest between PNUD and companies in the Polkadot ecosystem.<br>

<p>The scope of this work includes direct collaboration with PNUD at the international level, as well as with companies with which they have collaboration agreements.</p>
<p>We would like to open the consultation process for the creation of this working team, which will initially work for four months, starting in January 2026, so that the entire community can comment on the creation of this working team. It will initially consist of Angelica and Simon, who have been progressively advancing with this organization. It will also include the participation of a person from W3F (TBD) to analyze corporate compliance in the ecosystem and review the conclusions.</p>
