Hi everyone! We are Nachito (Polkadot Senior Ambassador) and Roco (Polkadot Ambassador). We have created a brand for the Spanish speaking community named DOTCAST, which started seven months ago as a weekly podcast on Youtube, based on the Polkadot & Kusama ecosystem.
It's not just an opinion podcast, we interview developers, founders and ecosystem members on the current topics of Kusama and Polkadot. We are also on Twitter, Spotify and Medium as well. Constantly posting relevant info about the Polkadot & Kusama ecosystem, aiming to “spread the word” in a friendly and understandable way for everyone.
This partnership began a year ago, translating from English to Spanish all the content that we considered important for the community. Like the rabbit-hole syndrome that we are sure many of you have experienced, we went from translating documents and ended up dubbing Polkadot videos for the community.
It's important to mention that we never discuss subjects related to price or financial speculation.
General Goals
Our development so far was covered by Wag Media, but we are looking to continue the work with a spending proposal.
Specific Proposal Goals
Problem statement
Polkadot can be complex for its users, not to mention newcomers.
People need to be supplied with reliable and user-friendly information.
Lack of original and good quality content in native language that improves over time.
Participation in governance should be encouraged.
Understand technical updates that are published.
There is a huge increase in the amount of information generated.
There is a large gap between the core ecosystem with its constituent members and people.
Solution
As it was mentioned before, our goal is to continue creating original content for the Spanish speaking community aiming to raise awareness of the Polkadot and Kusama ecosystem with the focus on the way this technology is being built and which are the use cases for it.
The general idea is to communicate in a friendly way so the potential users could feel in a peer to peer environment, as well as the users who already have a certain level of knowledge and would like to keep updated with quality information every week.
We believe that Governance 2.0 is a key factor related to adoption and participation as well, with that being said we already dedicate a portion of the podcast to this topic to encourage people in this subject.
The compiled information that we provide helps the community to stay updated in a trustless way, with the possibility to interact through comments, exchange opinions and generate feedback.
All of this is supported by interviews with developers from Parity and some of the parachains as well, and as you can check it for yourself, the community topic is always within our questions. Dotcast was born from the community and for the community, providing a space for ecosystem projects to connect with people.
How does this proposal differ from other content creation initiatives?
This proposal, in addition to creating original content in the native language, seeks to empower the community by binding their voices and encouraging them to participate in governance as a unit. With this union we also bring to spotlight the specific problems of our society looking for use cases within the ecosystem that can provide real solutions to users who need to be heard.
Nowadays, the community is made up of dispersed groups that from time to time bind together to carry out a particular event. Dotcast believes that this union can be permanent, flexible and dynamic in order to achieve a clear message to the community users and accomplish important things by demonstrating its strength in the governance process.
Finally, we are unaware of the existence of a native project born within the community, which has been under development for 7 months and has gone through two Bounties. Lucky enough to interview the founders of Polkadot and current developers, among other personalities, to then seek funding from the treasury with the same goals set out in this proposal.
Why not fund the project through a Bounty?
The project has already participated in Wag Media's Bounty #12 and Creadores Web 3, it has managed to progress up to this level. Going back to a Bounty would be walking backwards in terms of natural evolution.
This project is about continuing to build a brand related to Polkadot & Kusama in Spanish, it is not just about content videos looking for a previously determined economic reward.
Not depend on others and continue to build our own reputation.
To have secured funds for a period of 6 months and a work schedule. The Bounty´s bags are usually out of stock before they are planned, due to the great demand and generation of content that they produce.
The content bounties were created precisely to incentivize and guide creators in their first steps within the ecosystem, therefore we believe that our product is not a good fit for them. It would be taking funds away from other potential creators in their first level of development.
