This is a follow-up proposal on what we submitted in August, to further fund the development of the RPC service and to cover the maintenance costs of it.
This new proposal includes two Milestones.
Milestone 1: Run the Kusama RPC service on new dedicated hardware, to increase the performance of the service.
Milestone 2: Onboard a Rust developer to work with the RPC code to make it use resources much more efficiently. We found a problem, during the last quarter, with the scaling of the RPC-service and have spent a lot of time troubleshooting this bottleneck. We published a report in this Github-issue about it. This optimization work will reduce the cost for all RPC service providers in the community.
This proposal only covers Milestone 1 and 2 for now, while in upcoming maintenance proposals we will submit Milestone 1 (continued maintenance) and Milestone 3 (further development of the RPC code).
This proposal is about getting more money to improve the RPC service for Kusama. There are two main goals:
They found a problem with the RPC service and want to fix it. This will help all RPC service providers save money. The proposal talks about two parts, but they will submit more parts later. You can find more information about the RPC service and the full proposal online.
