OnFinality is a SaaS platform providing infrastructure services for the Kusama/Substrate community. We just launched our beta version of a shared node API Service and are already listed in the Polkadot.js app. This service expands on our core mission - to support all blockchain developers in the world by providing core infrastructure so they can focus on building the next dApp.
Setting up blockchain infrastructure is difficult and time consuming, and requires a level of server development expertise that many don’t have. We're applying for funding for the ongoing costs of our free public API service for Kusama so that everyone can access a public pool of managed Kusama nodes.
This funding grant is for the ongoing running costs of this pool of Kusama nodes for Q1 2021 (January/February/March) - this will be proposed again every three months. These costs are currently estimated at USD $1,189.2 a month

OnFinality is a platform that helps people build things on the Kusama and Substrate networks. They just started a new service that lets people use a shared node API for free. This makes it easier for people to work on their projects without having to set up their own blockchain infrastructure.
OnFinality wants money to keep their free public API service running for Kusama. They need about $1,189.2 a month to do this. They had over 3.2 million requests in a single day, which shows that many people are using their service.
They will keep offering a free tier for users who need up to 500,000 requests a day. They might also offer paid options for people who need more requests. OnFinality also lets people set up their own dedicated nodes if they need more than what the API service can provide.
