We aim to introduce a non-fungible token (NFT) strategy for Kusama Network, with the goal of allowing users to experiment with non-fungible tokens in art, gaming and other applications.
NFTs are unique items on the blockchain that serve a specific purpose or represent a specific real-world value, be it digital art, in-game assets, certifications, or even the concept of access (like a ticket to an event). Non-fungible token standards allow NFTs to move easily across heterogenous ecosystems. When a developer launches a new NFT project, these NFTs should be viewable inside dozens of different wallet providers, tradeable on marketplaces, and displayable inside of distinct virtual worlds. This is possible because standards like EIPs provide a clear, consistent, reliable, and permissioned API for reading and writing data.
The focus is on implementing a 5 step strategy that allows NFTs usability first on the relay chain with defined standards, with the support of NFT Pallet and RMRK.app: two solutions that can be deployed right away if combined with PolkadotAssetJS application. A second and third step include the development of Unique Network on Kusama.
