Updates Weekend 23-24 Nov 2024 Kusama had a significant rise of about 50% increase, we liquidated nothing of our treasury, we hold because we know about liquidity in the ecosystem, we focus on building and onboarding, and what happens if our current proposal faces another round of price increase per KSM? (1166 KSM, 1 KSM = 18 USD) we compromise only to liquidate the necessary amount for our operations, and if the price goes up, we won&rsquo;t liquidate massively. The previous proposal was 800 KSM at 25 USD per KSM. Throughout the operation, the market price remained at about 18 USD per KSM, which was translated to a loss of the original salary per member, but we kept operating doing the e-learning platform, and working as usual with all the assets of the original proposal. Our compromise is to help strive this ecosystem by being honest with any matter.

GrowDAO escalating with e-learning platform

Bifrost is a liquid staking app-chain for multiple blockchains, built on the Polkadot SDK. It allows users to earn staking rewards and DeFi yields with flexibility, liquidity, and high security. Bifrost is one of the largest Polkadot parachains in terms of Total Value Locked (TVL) with over $77M. It has liquid staking solutions for various networks such as Kusama (vKSM), Astar (vASTR), Ethereum (vETH), Manta (vMANTA), and Moonbeam (vGLMR).

Bifrost has requested a loan of 50,000 KSM from the Kusama treasury to be repaid with interest over 18 months. This loan will be used as base liquidity for the KSM and vKSM pair in Bifrost Stable Swap. Bifrost has previously brought a total income of 8,370.5523 KSM to the Kusama Treasury through similar proposals.

Bifrost offers unique use cases for liquid staking, such as LST Governance Capacity Inheritance (GCI), Leveraged Staking (LoopStake), and Chain Abstraction for KSM liquid staking. Bifrost's long-term goal is to facilitate capital flow of KSM staking, empower KSM staking across Kusama and Polkadot, and enhance the consensus security of the Kusama network.

Bifrost plans to expand vKSM applications on Polkadot once the KSM < > DOT bridge is live. This will include using Interlay Value, Hydradex omnipool, and DCA strategies, similar to the successful approach implemented with vDOT. Bifrost also plans to abstract away KSM liquid staking to the multichain, supporting minting across various networks via Bifrost SLPx.

The borrowing and repayment process will be fully open and transparent on Kusama and Bifrost governance. Bifrost will apply to borrow 50,000 KSM from the Kusama treasury and generate a treasury derived address on Bifrost. The funds will be used to mint vKSM and add liquidity to Bifrost Stable Swap. For repayment, Bifrost will remove liquidity from DEXs, convert vKSM back to KSM, and initiate a proposal on Kusama to repay the borrowed amount with staking rewards.

I'm submitting this proposal to cancel a "deferred" slash for era 7126 which would be applied in era 7154.&nbsp; The issue resulting in the slash was deemed to be<a href="https://github.com/paritytech/polkadot-sdk/issues/5778"> bug related</a> and the technical details are still being investigated.&nbsp; Historically, deferred slashes due to bugs were cancelled.
The issue, in my simple interpretation is as follows:
<ul>
<li>There was downtime due to hardware issues</li>
<li>Before the downtime one of my nodes was due to issue a "pre-vote"</li>
<li>When the node was online again, time passed and the prevote was no longer necessary.</li>
<li>The node may have used the local (not sync'd) finalized block as reference and proceeded to issue the pre-vote</li>
<li>Because the pre-vote already issued it resulted in an equivocation which is a slashable offence</li>
<li>Ideally, the node should have determined that time passed and the pre-vote wasn't necessary anymore</li>
</ul>
Given the circumstances and if my interpretation is correct this can happen to any operator who may restart their nodes with a pre-vote "in queue" given a delay in finalized blocks.
The issue was reported immediately but because of the bug, the "slash" was reported some 24 later. Time was also lost while trying to get a technical verdict on whether this was a bug or operator related. Given these delays, it is unlikely to receive a cancellation of the deferral on time. I would however engage the community for a deferral in solidarity.
I have already <a href="https://kusama.subscan.io/extrinsic/0x1721218fbc11aef01268df4b8cdae452a90287f4e0f300eeee8a0e9a9fffa1c4">compensated</a> the slashed parties (rounding up) and I am working on another payout for those affected by any offline time.

### Fixing The Total Issuance

- A bug caused the Total Issuance (TI) to differ from the actual sum of all account balances on Kusama.
- The issue was fixed, but the TI still needs to be adjusted to match the actual balances.
- A script was used to measure the difference between the expected and actual TI.
- The difference is 56.331363194817 KSM, which needs to be subtracted from the TI.
- A whitelisted call will be made to adjust the TI using a specific function.
- This adjustment will be first tested on Kusama before being applied to Polkadot.
- The goal is to ensure the TI accurately reflects the total amount of existing tokens.
